Mountain Biking with the Ranger – Tombstone Pass to Clear Lake Resort. Difficulty: Moderate. Enjoy a 13 mile single-track mountain bike ride on the historic Santiam Wagon Road going back in time to learn about the importance of this historic route to early settlers. The ride is rated as moderately difficult and has rolling hills with 1,600 feet of elevation gain and 2,700 feet elevation loss. We will ride from Tombstone Prairie Parking area to Clear Lake Resort and celebrate the end of our adventure with pie! We will shuttle participants and their bikes back to their vehicles at Tombstone Pass. Bring all of the things listed for general hikes as well as a Northwest Forest Pass (day or annual) for your vehicle, your mountain bike, a pump, patch kit, any other minor bike repair gear you may need, and a bit of cash to buy your slice of pie…. or refreshment of your choice at Clear Lake Resort. Preregistration is required. Tours and they fill up quickly. Register at www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777 (search or ask for “Sweet Home Nature and
Heritage Tours”). Most tour fees are $10 per person ($5 with a Senior or Access Pass), plus a $1 service charge. Request for refunds must be made at least 2
weeks prior to the date of the tour.

Sweet Home Ranger District “Heritage Hikes” are offered under the Recreation Fee Program authorized by The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). Fees are collected to fund protection and enhancement of local historic sites for public use and enjoyment, and for the continuation of conservation education programs.
